21.7.09 Angela Emsley elected as Independent Town Councillor
East Herts People are delighted that Angela Emsley, Independent for Hertford Sele Ward has been elected as a Town Councillor in yesterday's Town Council by-election. Meanwhile, in Hertford Castle although James Morris put up a good fight he came a respectable second to Matthew McCormick of the Conservative Party, with Steve Froud coming a close third.
This is a fantastic victory for Independents in Hertford and Angela will be a welcome addition to the Town Council. Angela and James worked tirelessly, pounding the streets with their leaflets, meeting the electorate and pushing the Independent message. Angela is excited to have been elected and looking forward to her new role. I am sure this is not the last we have heard of James, who would make a fantastic Councillor so fingers crossed he feels inspired to stand in 2011.
East Herts People would like to thank everyone who not only voted for Angela and James, but everyone who simply turned out to vote, ensuring they had their say about who represents them. We know Angela will do a great job for the people of Sele ward.
