Jim Thornton (Treasurer and Leader) has represented Hertford Castle Ward on East Herts Council since May 1999. He is a Governor of Richard Hale School and Haileybury College, a Trustee of several charitable trusts, a Council member of Tyndale House Research Library in Cambridge, and a Reader in the Church of England. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Builder, has a first-class honours and a Masters degree from Manchester University, and runs a group of companies in Hertford involved in property management, maintenance and investment.

Viv Thornton (Nominating Officer) is a specialist in the care of the dying. She has added expertise in palliative care to her nursing qualifications, and works part-time at the St Clare and Isabel Hospices. Currently a Church Warden at St Andrews Church, Hertford, she has recently started a Bed and Breakfast business.
