Stanstead Abbotts Ward

Paul Lacey

Thirteen years ago I moved to Stanstead Abbotts, with my wife and 7 year old daughter. I didn’t just move, I fell in love with the village. Having served 9 years with the Metropolitan Police as a Special Constable reaching Inspector level I transferred to Herts Constabulary in 1999 as a Special PC to police the village I loved, having reaching the age of 51, I retired 3 years ago and have served as Vice Chairman of Stanstead St Margarets Parish Council. Since joining the Parish Council I really feel I have made a difference having campaigned for parking control in the Village , the introduction of a weight limit and the design, manufacturer and installation of our village sign. Yes ,its me that knocks on your door with a passionate petition to improve the environment we all share. As a local business man running two companies, I hate wasted effort, time and money. This current District Council does both and needs to be looked at by non Political people. After all, it’s there to serve the People of East Herts, not individual political party satisfaction. I look forward to being given the opportunity and honour of serving as your District Councillor

As your East Herts Councillor I will do my best to work for:

Protection of the Environment

I will campaign for Improvements to the condition of our roads and pavements, and I want to see rigorous enforcement of our weight limit. I want to ensure that all building works are properly monitored and controlled, and I want to change the current grass cutting policy.

Tight Control of Council Expenditure:

I do not want to see pensioners and families struggling to pay higher and higher Council taxes. I want to look closely at outsourced contractors’ charges, examine the use and cost of external consultants, and scrutinise the tender process used to award contracts.

More facilities for our Young People:

I want to see improved support for our Youth Club. I want to see excellent leisure facilities in East Herts for the widest range of interests, and I want to see more initiatives for energy efficient affordable housing in our area.
