Starting your own Party

27 October 2006: We have not yet had our Registration confirmed, but the Electoral Commission were quick to respond, and asked us to correct an error on our application. We remembered we would have Data Protection issues, and we did that online and had registration in a few days at a cost of £35. Our Registration Number is Z9638534. The biggest problem has been getting the telephone installed: it should have been this week, but will now be Saturday 11 November. This is a bit sad, because we are running weekly adverts which have the phone number on them. The bank Account is now open, so another two weeks and we should be steaming.

13 October 2006: It is easier than you might think to start your own political party.  The website of the Electoral Commission {link} gives you all the details, and all you need are two people, a Constitution (you can download ours and adapt it), a Financial Scheme (sample on their website), and £150.
